As part of casting this spell, you must expend one Hit Point Dice or the spell automatically fails. Choose a creature within range and roll the expended Hit Point Dice. The target takes Necrotic damage equal to the result. At the end of each of its turns while the spell lasts, the target makes a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, it takes this damage again. On a successful save, the spell ends.
