Nejbet
The Crown of Dust, The Sunless Mother
Primary Briefing
Nejbet was the last queen of the ancient kingdom once known as Akharet, now buried beneath the sand and remembered as Nejab. She is remembered as a ruler of great ambition, revered especially in rites of birth, war, and coronation: central elements of her people's culture. Many ancient texts referred to her as the “Mother of the Sun” and the _“Crown of the Upper Lands” (_though she no longer identifies with either title).
Nejbet is most widely remembered for her attempt to grant her people immortality through a forgotten ritual known only as the Seven Words. According to her followers, the ritual failed... Or was sabotaged. Nejbet herself claims she was betrayed by those closest to her, and that the result was her transformation into a being of many bodies and a fragmented soul. She now exists as a hive of unliving forms — the dead of Akharet — which she controls, but from which she cannot truly escape.
Though no longer mortal, nor fully divine, Nejbet’s voice still echoes in her forgotten ruins, and through warlocks who claim her as their patron. When she speaks, she talks of a vessel created from the essence of her people, of someone who stole what should have been hers, and of a path to reclaim what was lost.
